Safety Layers

Multi-Level Protection Architecture

Every BMS we supply implements a layered protection strategy. No single point of failure.

Overcharge Protection

Per-cell voltage monitoring. Charge FET cutoff at 4.25V/cell (Li-Ion) or 3.65V/cell (LiFePO4). Secondary protection fuse as backup.

Over-Discharge Protection

Discharge FET cutoff at 2.7V/cell (Li-Ion) or 2.5V/cell (LiFePO4). Prevents irreversible anode damage from deep discharge.

Short Circuit Protection

Sub-microsecond detection. Hardware-level response independent of MCU. Typical trip threshold 3x-7x rated current.

Temperature Protection

Dual NTC thermistors (charge + discharge path). Charge inhibit at 0°C (Li-Ion). Discharge cutoff at 70°C. Configurable thresholds.

Cell Balancing

Passive balancing (60-200mA) standard. Active balancing (1-5A) available for large packs. Triggered at >10mV cell deviation.

Communication Watchdog

Smart BMS includes MCU watchdog timer. Communication loss triggers safe state. Periodic health checks on all protection circuits.
